The America’s Cup isn’t just any sporting event; it’s the oldest international sporting competition, dating back 174 years. This prestigious event is as much a technological race as it is a test of sailing prowess. Only teams from the United States, Australia, Switzerland, and New Zealand have claimed victory in this challenging tournament, where there can only be one winner.
In 2024, the fastest and most advanced sailboats will converge in Barcelona, vying for the honor of lifting the coveted Auld Mug. The current defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, will face a formidable first challenger in the UK’s INEOS Britannia.
The following teams will set up camp at Port Vell, turning the heart of Barcelona into a hub of high-tech maritime activity:
Each team’s base will be strategically located around Port Vell, with easy access points for fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the preparations and practice sessions
The AC75 monohulls, first seen in the 36th America’s Cup, will be the stars of this edition. These marvels of engineering, equipped with hydrofoils, can lift out of the water and sail at speeds up to four times faster than the wind.
Meanwhile, the smaller AC40 boats will feature in the Youth and Puig Women’s America’s Cup events, providing thrilling competition with half the crew size of the AC75s.
No visit to Port Vell during the America’s Cup is complete without a stop at Maná 75, known for its legendary paellas and vibrant atmosphere. Nestled near the bases of the Italian and US teams, this spot offers not just delicious food but also a front-row seat to the regatta vibe. Enjoy the spectacle with a cocktail in hand from their terrace overlooking the iconic W Hotel.
During these dates it is necessary to book in advance, so make sure you book your meal by clicking on the reservation page below.

From August 2023, teams will be training in Barcelona, with preliminary regattas setting the stage for the intense battles to come.
This series will determine who gets to challenge the reigning champions, Emirates Team New Zealand. It features a league phase followed by a final knockout stage.
The main event kicks off on October 12th, with the first team to win seven races claiming the title. It’s all or nothing in this high-stakes, no-second-place showdown.
Running alongside the main events, the Youth & Puig Women’s America’s Cup will see young and female sailors compete in fleet races. The final match races for these events promise to be just as thrilling as the main competition.
