What is the complete route of the nautical bus?

The journey will last 10 minutes from the departure at Drassanes pier to the arrival at Llevant pier.

In other words, the trip from La Rambla to the W Hotel, which used to take 30 minutes on foot, will now only take 10 minutes by the nautical bus.

At the moment, there are no intermediate stops, but this is a possibility for the future. Each boat has an autonomy of 8 hours and also has a charging area at the Llevant pier.

What are the operating hours of the new nautical bus in Barcelona?

This new nautical bus in Barcelona will operate year-round from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, providing 12 hours of uninterrupted service each day.

During peak hours, the wait at Drassanes pier is outdoors, without shade or basic infrastructure. Currently, most passengers are city residents.

Therefore, if you want to enjoy the views of the port from the sea for tourism, I recommend choosing intermediate times that do not coincide with general work start or end times.

The nautical bus in Barcelona is a great achievement in sustainable transport

This new sea route will be operated by two vessels. The first, the Ecocat Tres, has a capacity for 84 passengers, and the second, the Ecocat Dos, has a capacity for 56 passengers.

These are two 100% electric catamarans—operated by the ALSA group—with zero emissions, and 40% of their energy consumption will be covered by solar energy, resulting in an annual savings of 180 tons of CO₂.

Infrastructure of the stations and boats

Both vessels are equipped to accommodate passengers with reduced mobility. The larger vessel, the Ecocat Tres, has restrooms and two decks, the second one being open-air. The smaller one has only one deck and no restrooms.

Additionally, the stop at Moll de Llevant occupies the smallest warehouse in the port, which was recently renovated. Inside, you will find a bar, restrooms, and a ticket office.

Future prospects with the maritime bus

Although the main goal of the nautical bus project was to improve mobility during the America’s Cup, there is no doubt that it is here to stay. It will become part of the city’s transportation options and likely won’t be the only one in the future.

The company Alsa has also mentioned the possibility of enabling other routes and including intermediate stops, for example at Adossat pier.

There is no doubt that the future of this project is very favorable for the city of Barcelona and its mobility in general.

The nautical bus in Barcelona will revolutionize the Nueva Bocana area

Barcelona is a seaside city, and just five days after the opening of the first nautical bus, more than a thousand tickets are sold daily, according to an article published by “El Periódico.”

The Nova Bocana area is one of the most benefited by this means of transport. It is a renewed area, in constant reconstruction, and it hides incredible sea views, leisure facilities, and high-quality gastronomic spots, such as the Maná 75 restaurant, the municipal pools of the Atlético – Barcelona swimming club, or the recent opening of the largest beach club in the city.

Nova Bocana will be the new trendy beach area this summer thanks to the new nautical bus in Barcelona. Will you miss it?
