1. 1. Visit the Fira de Santa Llúcia

No matter when you visit, Barcelona is always alive and ready to welcome you. But there’s something extra special about it at Christmas time.

One of the best things to do in winter is to stroll around the Fira de Santa Llúcia, a magical Christmas market full of festive stalls.

Did you know that in Catalonia, we have a funny tradition called “Tió de Nadal”

Sitges, a beautiful seaside town just 40 km from Barcelona, spends the whole year preparing for its famous Carnival.

This party is full of colourful parades, shiny costumes, and exciting energy.

It’s one of the most cheerful and lively traditions in Catalonia! Sitges is easy to reach – only 40 minutes by train – so there’s no excuse to miss it.

Not sure what to do in Barcelona in winter? Take a trip to the Costa Brava!

While everyone else is looking for snowy spots, you can visit some of the prettiest beaches in Catalonia, like Cala Pola or Playa de Santa Cristina. They’re quiet and peaceful in winter, which is quite a treat compared to summer.

If you’re feeling active, try walking the Camí de Ronda, a coastal trail with views so beautiful, they’re hard to describe.

Después de tantas restricciones, lo que más nos apetece a todos es juntarnos y disfrutar de la compañía de nuestros amigos, familiares y compañeros de trabajo. Y si es alrededor de una mesa, muchísimo mejor.

4. Ski in La Molina or Vall de Núria

Winter means one thing for many Catalans: skiing

La Molina ski resort is only two hours from Barcelona. If you’re with family, the more relaxed Vall de Núria is a perfect choice.

5. Enjoy Snow Without Skis

Even if you’re not a fan of skiing, you can still enjoy the snow. Visit the tiny, snowy village of Montgarri, close to Baqueira-Beret, one of Spain’s coldest spots.

Here, you can try snowshoeing, snowmobile rides, or even sledding with huskies. Don’t forget to visit the Romanesque Sanctuary of Montgarri, surrounded by forests and crystal-clear rivers.
